beautiful weekend

Last week was full of early mornings (in which I dashed outside to snag the first sunrise-lit photos I have gotten in a long time) and long days. It's amazing how much more delicious a weekend is when you've worked, worked, worked most of the week. And it's amazing how truly delicious weekends turn you into wreck for the beginning of the next week.

Mine was a scrumptious weekend--full of blue, blue sky, dancing in a black dress, cinnamon pretzels, graduation dress shopping, donuts, and a two-night sleepover with my friend Hadley.

And an unsuccessful examination of the Disney store in search of  awesome Tangled paraphernalia, which was hard on our hearts but good for our wallets. Happily, however, "I See the Light" was playing when we walked in, so we sang along with it and it soothed our sadness.

We have been trying to watch Tarzan together for a long, long time. Swathed in blankets and exhausted and ravenous from dancing, we ate pizza and ice cream and squealed over it to our hearts' content. It's Hadley's soul-movie, and she is eerily similar to Jane. I wonder if that means she'll end up with a flying wild man in a loincloth..?

And then the long-awaited viewing of Les Miserables which Hadley has been in dire need of. We screamed. Oh, how we screamed. And clutched each other and sighed and shivered. And may or may not have woken up peacefully sleeping family members.

Amidst the graduation dress shopping (something I have been waiting to do for literally years), we went to Payless Shoes and I was able to enjoy the truly fascinating experience of entering that store with Hadley. I swear it's a medical condition. The darting to-and-fro, the snatching and squealing, the cradling, the delusional sighing, and the crushing realism of-- I need to be smart and not buy the entire store because most of it is already at my house, in a long neat row of ridiculously cute shoes.

And despite her ultimate maturity, she was able to help me fine some much-needed red shoes! What do you think? I wore them to church today and am completely in love. I've been desperately needing red heels, but so many of them are crazy-high, and I'm not a huge fan of being like 6'2, so I was very, very happy to find a moderate, yet adorable heel.

Today, the heavenly weather is quite gone...replaced by cold, dreary rain. But it was beautiful while it lasted.

I hope your weekend was beautiful, relaxing, productive, perhaps involving a new pair of shoes, and most of all, refreshing enough to get you through the next five days.
